Lindenwood Park – City of St. Louis
There are some advantages to growing up in North County and playing in the wind is one of them. As a former Hazelwood East Tennis Player, Scott was excited to see that wind speeds were 30-35 miles per hour as they prepared for their epic battle!
Hazelwood Easts courts sit up on a hill and are in a constant state of wind tunnel due to the two water storage tanks next to the courts.
Lindenwood Park in the City of St. Louis is a nice, neighborhood park located off of Jamieson which features two tennis courts, ball fields, roller hockey rink, playgrounds and restrooms.
The tennis courts here are in very bad shape with almost 90% or more of the tennis surface missing. However, as per agreement we play regardless of the condition.
The match started in as Scott expected with the wind causing issues for Stan and Scott quickly stormed out to a 4-1 lead. Stan fought back and was able to get the match back to 5-4 on with Scott serving for the set.
Scott held and the first set was history. The second set was a little tighter at first and was knotted at 3-3 when Scott was finally able to run out the last 3 games for his first victory in 4 matches. Surprisingly we had pretty good ball bounces, but the courts and fencing were in really bad shape.
The City of St. Louis is about to make improvements to its Park System hopefully these courts will receive some help!
Court Condition was a 4 and location a 7 for a total of 5.5. Mom’s Deli is a nice nearby stop for a sandwich if you are hungry.
